Why Flexibility is the Fountain of Youth
Airline travel can be stressful. It’s not pleasant to be packed into tight quarters with strangers, all wishing they were somewhere else. Add in bad weather, delays, and lost baggage and that can equate to a bad day ending in a headache.
I travel enough now, that I’ve learned to be flexible. I bring plenty of work to keep me busy during long delays and pack a few extra items, just in case I have to spend an extra night in a city due to a cancelled flight.
I don’t know why people get so upset at airline officials about things they cannot control. Is it the flight attendant’s fault that bad weather has delayed takeoff? It’s not worth the stress to fret over a missed connection or a delayed flight that is totally out of your control.
Flexibility is not only critical for airline travelers, but also critical for those trying to thrive in life. Everything changes and the world is in constant flux. What made sense a few years ago is obsolete today. Your environment is constantly evolving and so you must evolve with it to thrive and ultimately survive to live a long and healthy life.
Stress ages you. In fact, stress can have a huge negative impact on your health. Your body was not built to sustain long periods of stress. Overtime your body will breakdown and your health will decline if you allow stress to remain in your life due to inflexibility.
If you want to maintain your youth, then let life go and stop stressing about things you simply cannot control. If your plans change, no problem, just keep moving and start on a new path. Remain flexible in life and your health will thank you. What’s causing you stress today? Are you flexible enough to pivot or is it worth digging in and allowing a particular issue to stress you out?
